Using Jay Complete the ultimate underdog journey with WrestleMania 41, defeat the dominant gunser and do what you can’t imagine by becoming the new world heavyweight champion. USO is one of the hottest and most popular names in WWE programming today, and has earned a huge response from the audience, which has made him a huge success. However, USO has not been affected by criticism and he has been fighting for a long time to prove himself. Unfortunately for him, his reign in the world heavyweight title has not been pushed to the best start, so let me explain why.
Jey Uso needs a strong feud to prove the fans wrong
USO receives split feedback from the audience
- WWE fans love “Yett,” but his matches aren’t necessarily hot.
- Online fans have provided criticism of his work in the ring and his character.
- He couldn’t really prove that the fans were wrong against Gunther on Wrestlemania 41.
Jayuso has received considerable criticism from WWE audiences due to overuse of the “Yett” catchphrase, unsatisfactory publicity here and there, and a lack of a strong single-action show. His match with Gunther at Wrestlemania 41 was a chance to prove everyone wrong and offer a classic, but there was something about the lack of energy match and didn’t reach the expectations that many were doing. And it didn’t help that Triple H in an interview on WWE’s YouTube channel that USO was not the best ring-in-worker.
Jey Uso works best when you can dig your teeth into personal rivalry, relying on storytelling rather than work in the ring. Now that he has become a world champion, WWE should put all their efforts into making him the most important man with a raw brand with the best storyline. Kicking things off in BANG was supposed to be a WWE priority, but Logan Paul lined up as his first challenger.
Jey Uso Vs. Logan Paul could be a disaster
There have been no buzz recently in Logan Paul’s match.
- Paul is extremely talented, but his lack of experience is shown like WrestleMania and AJ style.
- Jey Uso needed top-in-ring talent and stars to work with.
- USO may not be able to carry Logan Paul into a good match.
While we will not deny Logan Paul’s natural abilities between the ropes, Paul’s development has actually been quite slow last year or so, without consistent time in the ring, live events, extensive training, and without always being present in WWE. His match is beginning to lack some sparks and energy, and his lack of experience is beginning to show. The sequence feels rehearsal and fans aren’t so impressed with the feat of his athleticism. Many of his matches run the same formula – he poses by hitting the audience with a move, then hits another move and does the same thing. Paul’s match with AJ Style at WrestleMania was the biggest example of how his style was tireing the audience.
For those who need to be carried to a strong match on pole to some degree, putting him with someone with a similar reputation could be a very bad match in Backlash 2025, when the pair face off. Both USO and Paul benefit from working with people who are more experienced single performers, but in Backlash, USO makes healthy lifts and adds a lot of pressure. What’s more, their stories were as bland as bland. Paul said he wanted a world title shot and took a cheap shot for the champion. It was all builds for games that were more than a week away at the time of writing. It’s highly likely that fans don’t care, and that can be a disaster in terms of quality.
Jey Uso’s world heavyweight title reigned had a better option
WWE is waiting to give Jey Uso a big feud
- WWE teased Sami Zayn as Jey Uso’s first opponent.
- Beyond the WWE roster, Jey has many options.
- WWE may already have set up a USO due to a failure.
Jey Uso has a special connection with his fans and allows him to work incrediblely with his right opponent – that’s why he doesn’t feel like a glorious mid-card program, and is very good at his newly won World Heavyweight Championship. On the night after Wrestlemania 41, Sami Zayn appears to celebrate Jey Uso and teases a potential betrayal that did not occur. If WWE had pulled the trigger at the time, USO’s reign would have started to the best possible start – a storyline filled with depth, plot, emotion and more. Even the title feud with Zayn without a turn was very interesting given the history of each other, rather than a rather basic running title defense against Logan Paul, where the outcome is predictable.
WWE’s brand splits are pretty loose right now, but even if potential challengers are limited to RAW, USO has plenty of potential opponents to ensure a better match and certainty, including Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, Sheamus and return Rusev. Either way, WWE gave Jey Uso an even more difficult job and even bigger points when he and Paul compete in Backlash 2025.
