Stone Cold Steve Austin is working on the possibility of a final match, beating Kevin Owens to compete in the WrestleMania 38.
Steve Austin was “happy for now” at the WWE Premium Live April 2022 event, but he admitted that there was a problem with the timing.
In a recent interview, Stone Cold was asked if he was in peace in the match, revealing the possibility of stepping into the ring again.
Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s show, Austin revealed that he was in peace in the WWE WrestleMania 38 match, but considering the possibility of returning to the exhibition match, he said:
“Completely. There’s always that part in the depths of your mind. There was a match. I think they billed it as an exhibit match between Japan’s Nick Bockwinkel and Billy Robinson.
“These two guys went to a really nice clinic. It was about 11-15 minutes and the Japanese were really grateful for the match.
At the Yokohama event at UWF-I Combat Sport in Japan in May 1992, Bill Robinson and Nick Bockwinkel entered a 10-minute limited draw for exhibition matches.
Austin continues to consider the positivity of competing in exhibition matches like this.
“It would be fun to do something like that. It’s an exhibition. You’re not going out there and stealing the show. You love the business just like you do and you’re so funny that you’re going out there to do it again in front of the fans.
“You’re always thinking behind your mind about things like that. There’s no display style, all the pressure to try and be someone in your athletic prime.
“There’s a day and night difference in how you can perform when you’re off Prime. That’s true for any athlete in any sport.
“If that was my last effort in the ring, I’m totally peaceful with it. I ran hard, I had fun. We achieved a lot.
On the WWE WrestleMania 41 on April 20, 2025, Stone Cold made a surprise appearance as he arrived on a four-wheeler and accidentally hit a ringside barricade.
Discussing the crash, Austin revealed that its cause is a different throttle setup than what you’re used to using on an ATV.
