It is clearly a real big deal for both companies that WWE acquires Mexico’s Lucha Libre Promotion AAA. Since the acquisition, fans have wondered if more crossover appearances will occur, and now it’s confirmed that Rey Mysterio will return to AAA in the future.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, AAA Managing Director Dorian Roldan confirmed at the Mexico City Sports Summit that Rey Mysterio will be making his first appearance at the AAA since 2018.

“He said Ray Mr. Jr. returns to AAA and the talent of WWE’s former AAA is excited and he can’t wait to come back.

WWE has already revealed that the deal to acquire AAA was in collaboration with Mexico-based sports and entertainment company Fillip. If everything is on track, the acquisition is expected to be finalized by the third quarter of 2025 once all standard legal and business steps are completed.
