Aew Star Cope (Adam Copeland) is working on the recent heel turn of one of his most famous WWE rivals, John Cena.

John Cena appeared in the 17th record WWE as the indisputable WWE champion. John Cena reinvented himself in his final year as an aggressive competitor for the first time in March’s Elimination Chamber PLE over 20 years ago.

One of China’s most memorable enemies on the run as WWE’s top babyface has been silent in the WWE and the World Heavyweight Championships in the mid- to late 2000s.

During his recent appearances on Korolnek and Colaiacovo’s first Up, Cope was asked about Cena’s heel turn.

“I don’t see wrestling in general because I’ve been burned out. That’s when you’re doing it, I think that’s one of those deals.

I have a family and two children. My downtime is criticized from wrestling shows and I spend time with them or watch hockey rather than pulling them out. Get the clips from Instagram and watch them there. I haven’t seen the overall story, follow-throughs, and all the little beats here and there.

“I don’t really know how it went, but a lot of people were talking about it. When you get the character you did that for Babyface, it’s like when Hogan turns to NWO and joins. It’s always a skilled shot for business.”

Cena is planning to defend the indisputable WWE Championship in the WWE Backlash on May 10 against familiar enemies of both him and Cope, Randy Orton.

Cope is currently off AEW TV after being attacked by FTR in AEW Dynasty 2025.
