Elijah Holyfield is trying to make his name in the world of wrestling, but things have brought about a shocking turn of events in the May 4th edition of WWE LFG. Things changed when Hill bit Holyfield’s ear during a match in the showdown with Shirohill.
The spot was a clear nod to the infamous 1997 battle between Elijah’s father, Evander Holyfield and “Iron” Mike Tyson. During their match, Tyson bit Holyfield’s ear in one of the sport’s most infamous moments. Tyson received a $3 million fine from the Nevada Boxing Commission and a one-year ban from boxing.
The ban allowed WWF to attack a deal with Tyson, given that he had no ban on him, who appeared in professional wrestling. Tyson appeared as part of the build to WrestleMania 14 and plays a key role in the introduction of the era of attitudes.
Now, nearly 30 years after her father was bitten, Elijah Hollyfield suffered a similar fate. And while what happened in 1997 was an unplanned, shocking moment, the hill-tooth-shaking attack was part of WWE’s storyline.
