Tony Schiavone comment on WWE on AAA Show AEW Runs Arena Mexico Same Week

2 Min Read

Most people believe that when AEW announced that it was buying AAA few days after it announced that WWE was buying AAA, as life and most people would be coincidental. When the NXT/AAA shows at Los Angeles and TripleMania Regia were announced in June, even fewer people believed it was a coincidence. So no one is shocked to learn that AEW announcer Tony Ciaborne doesn’t believe it was a coincidence either.

In “What happened,” both Siaborne and co-host Conrad Thompson seemed to take a lot of humor to laugh at the idea that all of these WWE/AAA events were announced immediately after they learned of their intentions in Mexico.

“Wow, how about that?” Schiavone said. “It’s not that weird…it just happened. It’s weird, it’s just weird, it’s just weird, and those coincidences we’ve had over the years of pro wrestling.”

Still, Schiavone cannot affect the south of the border on AEW’s first foray into the country’s first foray. The event, titled “Grand Slam Mexico,” has not been fully confirmed, but appears to be poised to sell out CMLL’s famous home base, with other AEW/CMLL/new Japanese events moving tickets at a strong pace that week. So, it sets the perfect vibe for Ciaborne to be there and takes part in the show in one of the few arenas he has not yet been in his storied career.

“With that in mind, I don’t know how excited I am to be in a Mexico arena,” Ciaborne said. “It’s like a bucket list for all wrestling fans.”
