WWE was a little upset on Monday when reports were revealed that it had reached deals with several AAA Luchadors, including the AAA Mega Champion Alberto Del Rio. However, this talent is not brought to WWE, but there was more concern about past accusations against Del Rio of domestic violence and sexual assault and the problematic history between another signature, La Heedra, and NXT women’s champion Stephanie Verker.
On “Wrestling Observer Radio,” Dave Meltzer spoke about the signatures and revealed for now that most, if not all, of the signatures are to keep them only in the AAA, without taking them to WWE. He also gave more insight into the motivations for WWE to lock down these talents.
“So these signatures are for the Mexican market,” Meltzer said. “It’s not something that Alberto would appear in “Raw” or “Smackdown,” but it’s expected for Vikingo May, or at least “NXT.” But that’s the basis… this is not an extension of your AAA contract. This is new. These are new deals.
“And it makes sense in the WWE sense and I don’t want to use the word delusion. That’s a wrong word.
