John Cena is set to reprise his role as vigilante Christopher Smith in the hit series Peacemaker. Max has announced that “Peacemaker” Season 2 will be released on August 21, 2025 only on streaming platforms. The news is as Cena takes on promotional activities for the highly anticipated returns of the series.
Matching with the promotional push, Max will release a new trailer, giving fans a first glimpse into Peacemaker’s next mission. James Gunn returns as creator and showrunner for the second season, continuing the narrative of a nominal anti-hero who is determined to achieve peace at any cost.
John Cena leads the return cast including Steve Agee (John Econos), Jennifer Holland (Emilia Harcourt), Freddie Stroma (Vivilante), Daniel Brooks (Leota Adebayo), Robert Patrick (Aggie Smith) and Chukwudi Iwozi (Clemson Moon).
Cena’s Peacemaker Cargeter, originally featured in Gunn’s 2021 film, The Suicide Squad, was extremely popular and led to the success of the 2022 spin-off series. Season 1 was a hit by Max, defeating streaming records in its finale. Season 2, featured from the explosive events of the previous season, continues its signature blend of dark comedy, intense action and engaging character-driven storytelling.
