While this may surprise some fans, Flair has not always been a playboy. His first two marriages lasted quite a long time, bringing his four children. According to 2023 US census data, marriages in the US lasted an average of 20 years, and Flair’s remarriage was his only legal marriage or overall relationship to hit that mark.

Flair was first married to Leslie Goodman, the mother of David and Megan. They married in 1971 when Flair was only 22 years old. The former amateur wrestler from high school jumped into training with Verne Gagin the year after he married him and Goodman. The pair were married for 12 years, during which time Flair appeared in the American Wrestling Association, the Jim Crockett Promotion, and the NWA. By the time he and Goodman divorced in 1983, he was officially a “nature boy.” Flair’s first marriage is one of the few marriages that ended in dramatic fashion or did not play in the headlines.

Flair married Charlotte’s mother and Elizabeth Harrell’s late Reed Freer in 1983. The pair had established themselves as a major star in WWE, where Flair has switched to WCW and WWF. Harrell married Flair during the infamous “airway from Hell,” but details of the flight’s sexual misconduct came much later after the divorce in 2006. The pair had been divorced for six years when their son Reid died of a drug overdose on March 29, 2013.

Flair’s fourth marriage to Jaqueline Beems proved to be the most unstable of all his marriages, at least from what the public knows. The pair married in 2009 after Flair’s divorce from his third wife, Tiffany Vandamark, and only married for five years before they separated. Flair once filed criminal charges against Vandemark for allegedly slamming him in the face with a phone charger, but his relationship with Beems was reportedly far more violent.

In February 2010, not even a year of marriage, but Beems is said to have attacked him and allegedly hurt him in blood. Beems was arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina and released later that day, but was booked to prison. She punched talent in the face and was accused of kicking and biting him. Local TV stations reported Flair was recovering at the hospital after the attack. Police were re-engaged in one of the couple’s fights in June 2012. Flair called officials to intervene in the fight, but neither Flair nor Beem were taken to prisons or hospitals.

Beems and Flair officially divorced in 2014, but Beems was even more familiar with North Carolina law in 2013 when he took responsibility for Flair’s new girlfriend, Wendy Barlow. A warrant was issued for her arrest, and she surrendered herself to the authorities in July. According to her lawyer, Beems only wanted to continue her life and she was charged with a misdemeanor.

His “dirty player in the game” nickname reportedly lived in his personal life as well as inside the ring. The pair had previously broken up in January 2022 when “People” magazine first revealed they had never been legally married. Flare told the magazine, “It was just a ceremony and they never got married. Barlow confirmed that he did not apply to “people” for a marriage certificate.
