John Cena will maintain the WWE title for a while.
Cenation Leader won his first title defense in tonight’s rebound PPV after his record-breaking 17th World victory at WrestleMania 41 last month.
As expected, Cena managed to win a match against his arch rival, Randy Orton. The victory didn’t come without some help, but it was the intervention from the truth of Nick Ardis and R that resulted in this outcome.
An interesting thing coming out of the show is that the WWE Champion appears to be rethinking his stance after his victory. The chant “Thank you Cena” heard after the PPV aired, John stopped and thought about his actions before he went behind.
This latest development made me wonder if the company was already caught up in Cena Heel’s turn, where the company was already unable to connect with fans, and whether his title would soon end.
A new report from Fightful Select suggests that this is not the case. According to the site, the claims from people within the company were that the John Cena title would last until summer.
WWE originally teased Sheena’s heel turn in the Royal Rumble when she almost attacked Jayuso after the Battle Royale. Therefore, it takes time to turn your face.
The belief among fans is that Cody Rhodes will start the title again from Cena. Therefore, John’s direction should become clear when American nightmare returns to WWE programming.
