Dominik Mysterio has been in tears since winning the Intercontinental Championship with the Wrestlemania 41, but fans have noticed that he has really scaled down his move set for a while. With that in mind, Mysterio explained why he isn’t making so many moves now.
While talking about the Inticados podcast, Dominik Mysterio was asked why he reduced his move set, especially the high-flying movements that made him known. He explained why he wanted his movements to feel more special. He said wrestling has changed over time and now many wrestlers are making crazy moves like backflips, but they aren’t that exciting when fans are constantly watching those moves.
He can perform those moves, but he wants to make sure they stand out when he does them. He explained that when fans see him pulling off moves he doesn’t often, they feel it’s more special to them.
“There’s a reason for that. Well, the reason I’m is because I’m just my personal opinion. Backflip, and I can’t do half of that shit.
For example, you can do it by spending time, like you did back then, but I feel it’s even more special. It’s like you see it often, right? But not from me, but like. So when you see it from me, you say, “Damn, did you see Dom doing that move?” or “Damn, did you see Dom hitting it?” And it’s like, “He was doing it” or “He doesn’t do that much”, but I want to mean something. When I do it, I want it to be special. ”
Mysterio added that if he hits every match, fans will start to expect it, but by saving it in a special moment, the movement becomes memorable. Dominic Mysterio wants to keep his movements meaningful, and by using them sparingly they have a greater impact when he does them.
“If you’re out there and wrestling right now, I don’t know, 100 times, and you’re doing a moonsault of 90% of the time. That would just mean more.”
Dominik Mysterio is more concerned about making moments than hitting constant flashy moves, and it’s safe to say his methods have been successful, and fans really don’t want him to change things anytime soon.
