Josh Alexander opened up about reaching out to AEW in his early days before choosing to sign TNA wrestling.

The former TNA world champion made his AEW debut on April 16, 2025, with his signature confirmed by Tony Kahn.

This wasn’t the first time Alexander had been interested in AEW, but revealed that he had been in touch with the young Bucks before the company was named.

In his recent appearance in the wrestling classic, Alexander spoke about his conversation with Matt and Nick Jackson and the level of interest they had in signing him:

“Before I signed up with TNA, full disclosure heard the new company’s tweets began. It had no name at the time, and it hadn’t been announced.

“I was working with the Bucks, so I reached out to one of them and they were like, ‘Is this the real thing?'” They were like, ‘Yes.’ “Because I want to be part of something like this,” they said, “not now.”

“That was when TNA came and I went there. I was so lucky to have the opportunity to go to TNA.

“Aging and not wise, I have come to realize that everything happens for a reason and you have to follow the path you are on.

AEW was founded by Tony Kern on January 1, 2019, and the young Bucks, Kenny Omega and Cody Rhodes were all co-vice presidents.

Appearing as a talent for reinforcement in 2018, Joshu Alexander signed a three-year contract with TNA Wrestling in February 2019.

Alexander will also host the X Division Championships, two-time World Tag Team Champion (Ethan Page).

As a two-time impact world champion, Alexander has the longest rule ever in 335 days (and conversely the shortest).

For the glory of 2021, Alexander defeated Christian Cage to win the Impact World Championship.
