AEW has revealed another residence in the work, and this appears quite quickly. The promotion announced today that it will host six events at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois. The lineup includes three episodes of “AEW Dynamite” running from July 16th to July 31st, and three episodes of “AEW Collision.”

Chicago has been one of AEW’s several hubs from the start, as owner Tony Kern’s family comes from the area and the promotion has a strong local fan base. This is the first time I’ve run Aragon Ballroom. This is part of the ongoing trend of packing smaller venues rather than filling larger venues.

The Aragon Ballroom has been in operation for almost 100 years and is primarily known as a music venue. Many bands, including Nirvana and Metallica, recorded sets at Aragon for the final release, giving theatres fame in rock music history. The venue has swept over 5,000 people for the concert, but adding a wrestling setup will cut that number.

Last year, the promotion first experimented with the idea of a residency by holding a week-long “collision” tape at an Arlington, Texas venue. AEW has also unveiled a series of shows at 2300 Arena, the former ECW home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. These are scheduled to take place at the end of August and September, and include the death of ROH before a dishonest pay-per-view along with TV taping.

Tickets for the Chicago Show will be on sale Monday, May 19th. Along with single event tickets, the company offers a package covering all six shows over three weeks.
