The history of talented women WWE I’ve seen many breakout stars become legends. Although each era has a different level of success, the names that have led to the most success have historically been respected. Looking back at the greatest man of all time, certain names stand out more than others.
Not everyone worked out in both face and heel roles, as each required a different level of personality. The best faces made fans gather behind them and treat them like heroes in their stories. Each of the 10 best female wrestlers in WWE history ranks only in their job as a babyface.

Charlotte Flare
Charlotte Flair struggles to make a good look
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
9/10 | 10/10 | 5/10 |
Charlotte Flare is a unique example of this topic. This is because they are clearly the top 10 female stars in the history of the company, as they rarely play babyface characters. WWE has pushed Charlotte as a top star for the past decade from the first day of her call-up.
Flare had some solid stints as a babyface, but she usually feels most natural as a dominant heeled character. Charlotte’s first major push (2015) ends with a heel turn for fan reception, essentially explaining her entire career. Flair even talks about the difficulty of playing a friendly babyface character.

Nikki Bella
Nikki Bella broke out as a singles heel champion
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
7/10 | 9/10 | 5/10 |
Bella’s twins were pushed in both face and heel roles until WWE decided to push the bigger singles against her. Nikki Bella betrayed Brie, leading to Heelrun moving forward to play the top character in their feud and win the Diva Championship.
On future turns, I saw Nikki running a short-term face, but never connected to the audience. Nikki had to turn his heels again for a feud with Ronda Rousey, as fans have not accepted it as a dream match between the two faces.

Sasha Banks
Sasha Banks had some big wins as a face
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
9/10 | 8/10 | 7/10 |
Mercedes Mohn played the Sasha Banks character in WWE for most of her career before making any major changes. The bank played out a ridiculous heel on NXT, but WWE called out her face to the main roster for a feud of Charlotte’s talent.
WWE fans loved cheering for the bank as a face with Charlotte for her first women’s championship reign. Most would argue that Sasha will play a better overall heel, but Banks has her best WWE title reign as a great matched face.

Asuka
Asuka gathered fans behind her
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
8/10 | 7/10 | 8/10 |
Asuka’s undefeated streak has been extended from NXT to the main roster. Asuka played faces for most of the NXT and was even more beloved with her bigger program. WWE chose Asuka to make history as the first winner of the women’s royal rumble match.
Asuka has always been supported by fans in her face role, as she has the perfect silent charisma that radiates from the entrance and leads to stellar matches. The heel character worked, but fans enjoy cheering on most Asuka-like badass.
6
Chyna
Chyna became a heroic babyface in the age of attitude
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
7/10 | 7/10 | 8/10 |
Chyna made waves as the first woman in WWE history, playing against male wrestlers and winning traditionally male titles like the InterContinental Championship. The role of the heel helped Chyna get over as a bodyguard for Triple H, but the evolution into the face made her a star.
Fans enjoyed cheering for Chyna with the face version of D-Generation X, which ultimately led to a bigger push for herself. In Chyna’s Face Run in Gender Intergender match, fans became the iconic performers who gathered behind to do something historic.

I’m Lee
WWE fans still want AJ Lee back
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
8/10 | 8/10 | 8/10 |
AJ Lee has achieved success in both face and heel roles throughout her respected WWE career. The role of face allowed AJ to play the beloved babyface character first until the character change led to the reign of the dominant Diva Championship as heels.
Lee eventually turned his face towards the final chapter of WWE’s career in a feud against Bella’s twins. Page and AJ formed a tag team after their previous drama and are more grateful to their fans. Lee still earns Babyface love today, having booked fan fantasy’s potential return to WWE.
4
Bailey
Bailey really connected with the audience
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
8/10 | 8/10 | 9/10 |
Early in Bayley’s WWE career, she played an incredible babyface character. NXT fans really loved her behaviour. This allowed Bailey to reign multiple titles on the main roster until the character hit the ceiling.
Bailey achieved even more success as a heel, but she once again returned to her facial role for great success. Fans love to cheer on Bailey as she comes out of the real thing and has a strong passion for the industry that is always on display when she’s a babyface.

Trish Stratus
Trish Stratus has changed women’s wrestling forever
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
9/10 | 9/10 | 9/10 |
Trish Stratus’ face in the early 2000s is more credited to her role in giving women more opportunities. WWE usually liked to have female performers take part in eye candy matches and to join eye-opening matches before Trish’s push tried to try a reliable match.
Stratus got over as the face of the top, leading to her, and a few other female wrestlers played a long match to captivate fans. Both roles led to Trish’s immense success, but she thrived most in the role of Babyface as the face of the thriving department.
2
Becky Lynch
Fans forced WWE to turn Becky Lynch’s face
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
10/10 | 8/10 | 10/10 |
The biggest driving force behind Becky Lynch’s career came when WWE actually wanted to play his heels against Charlotte Flair. Fans supporting Becky led to the role of a sharper-faced character who called for the audience to agree.
“The Man” persona came as a rebellious babyface in the role that transformed Lynch into the greatest of all time. Becky has made history as the first SmackDown women’s champion as a pure face character, dating back to the early days of NXT. It’s easier to connect.

Rita
Lita was WWE’s most unexpected breakout star in 2000
Overall rating | Heel evaluation | Baby Face Review |
---|---|---|
8/10 | 7/10 | 10/10 |
WWE initially managed Essa Rios and signed Lita for a secondary role that made high-flying moves to beat the fans. Rita did enough work to surpass Essa and was pushed hard in her facial role to join the Hardy Boys and form team Xtreme.
Everything from her ring-in style to her outfits, to her general personality associated with the fanbase of the late 1990s and early 2000s. WWE fans couldn’t get enough of LITA as she personified the word in the early 2000s nice About WWE programming.
