For Zelina Vega, the WWE Smackdown episode on April 25th, 2025 will always be remembered. Not only did she win the first taste of WWE Women’s US title Singles Gold, but she also witnessed her husband Alistair Black revived her surprise after years of separation. Talk to Steve Fall in Act 10, Vega erupted about a special night.
“I thought, ‘It’s great to be a champion, and it would be really great if he’s back.”
The surreal experience began before SmackDown when Vega learned of her impending title victory. Even the short time before learning her victory and victory itself, Vega was surprisingly calm as she was waiting for a moment of glory.
“I didn’t know until three hours before the show started. I wasn’t really nervous. Usually I’m always nervous… I’m like the Hawks. I’m very nervous.”
Why does she calm down? Her mind was with other places, with her husband.
“I think my husband came back and I was very attached to it. He saw him again on work and traveled with him again. My brain was so focused I don’t think I had time to be nervous.”
The double celebrations make what she describes as a dreamy experience Vegas added “surprising.” Now the reunion couple travels together again, restoring a routine placed before Black’s previous exit from WWE.
“Even now, sitting next to him on the plane, I was like, ‘Are you really here now? Is that really what?” So I’m still used to it, but in the best way. ”
Vega settles into her role as champion, and the couple reestablishes travel routines, including a “car ritual” in which they drive between venues and listen to the city and colour. Her title and husband Vega concluded that everything feels right in her world again. This is the perfect alignment of personal and professional dreams realized on an unforgettable night.
