Gale Kim was scheduled to step into the ring as a special guest umpire for the NWA World Women’s Championship match between Kenzie Page and WWE’s Natalia at the Crockett Cup in Philadelphia on May 17th. However, a few hours before the event, Kim went to Twitter to announce that she could not make it.
“It’s a shame that we have to announce that we won’t be able to reach Philadelphia’s today’s Crockett Cup, and we hate disappointing fans. Kim wrote.
Kim expressed her disappointment that she missed the event, as she was looking forward to umpire for the women’s title match. “I didn’t want to announce it in the hopes of a full recovery by this day, but I still have a high fever and had to cancel this AM.” She continued.
She has promised to make up for NWA fans and CEO Billy Corgan in the future. “I’m very disappointed because I was looking forward to umpire for today’s Women’s Championship title. I hope that everyone in Philadelphia today, especially the women I know, will defeat 2300 Arena tonight!”
Kim was released from TNA wrestling alongside the company in March 14 years later, becoming a major moment in her post-TNA career, when she planned her role as a judge in the Crockett Cup. Now, Kim comes out and the NWA has to scramble to find an alternative to the fierce showdown between Page and Natalia.
