Brian Danielson’s full-time wrestling career is in the rearview mirror, but the possibility of part-time returns is not entirely off the table. According to Danielson himself, the current odds are actually 50/50. In the eyes of AEW commentator Tony Schiavone, Danielson should follow the path to retirement.
“There were enough people in my body,” Ciaborne said of the “What happened” podcast. “After every match, I go to him and say, ‘Are you okay?” He goes “yeah” but I know he’s hurt. I think he realized he couldn’t take the chance [of worsening his injury]. He wants to see his kids grow up, why take the opportunity? He has been in this business for quite some time, making lots of money and hopefully enough. His wife also made a lot of money. Hopefully they’re enough for their families to go outside and live without letting them squelch anymore. ”
One of Danielson’s biggest health concerns revolves around his neck. He initially believed that surgery would be necessary by the end of 2024. At the turn of the New Year, Danielson revealed his desire to “live comfortably” without it. However, if he wrests again without undergoing surgery, Ciaborne believes in his livelihood and believes his neck will be at serious risk.
“What if once more, if something goes wrong, he can’t live his last year as he wants to be with his family?” Schiavone said. “That’s something you’re always at risk,” Danielson finally made it to AEW Wrestledream in an effort that lost to Death Rider John Moxley.
