This February, Rock announced at WWE Smackdown that it will be the official location of WrestleMania 42 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Saturday, April 11th and Saturday, April 12th. However, on Thursday afternoon, WWE provided a statement from the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, revealing that WrestleMania 42 will no longer be made in New Orleans.
The statement outlined another WWE event New Orleans will receive in 2026, including the official announcement of the Wrestlemania locations next year.
“The Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation and New Orleans & Company will work closely with friends at TKO to expand their long-standing partnerships, including UFC 318 on July 19, 2025, Bank Money in 2026, and WrestleMania, which will move from the current scheduled 2026 to future years.”
The reason for the WrestleMania 42 relocation remains unknown, and at this time the new host city for the event is yet to be determined. Additionally, although the official dates for bank money have not been confirmed yet, the show usually occurs within the months of June and July.
Superdome held both the WrestleMania 30 in 2014 and the WrestleMania 34 in 2018. In other words, WrestleMania 42 marked its third time in just 11 years, and New Orleans was the host city of “all their epic phases.” Although WrestleMania’s plans for next year have collapsed, WWE is expected to make $7.1 million from Summerslam’s New Jersey Sports and Expo Bureau for its first two nights at MetLife Stadium in August.
