The AEW Star unified two championships ahead of the gold challenge this weekend with double or nothing pay-per-view.
Sammy Guevara has the chance to become a double champion in the May 25th special, and Guevara will team up with Dustin Rhodes to challenge The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW Tag Team Championship.
Guevara has already held the Roh Tag Team Championship at Rhodes, suggesting that after winning Double or Nothing, ROH and AEW gold can be unified.
Speaking with Pwinsider’s Mike Johnson, Guevara teased the possibility of unifying the title and creating a new belt.
He said he discussed Rhodes’ goal of promoting the ROH Tag Team Championship.
“Dustin and I aimed to mean ROH tag titles more than gold. We defended them in Tokyo Dome, Australia and around the world.
“Now we have the opportunity to defend that honor with AEW’s pay-per-view. Maybe we’ll go out with both sets of belts. Maybe we’ll unite them. Maybe we’re making new belts. Either way, we’re ready.”
If the challenger is double or nothing, Dustin Rhodes becomes triple champion. They will also be holding the ROH Six Man Tag Team Championship alongside Marshall and Ross von Erich.
