Karrion Kross had big plans during the WWE main roster run. One of them was involved in reviving the legendary attitude era faction with a dark modern spin.
Interviewed 10 counts Along with Steve Fall, Cross revealed he wanted to pitch a full-scale revival of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and lead plots, cults and corporate evils into one powerful on-screen stable.
Cross confirmed that the concept was not just a fleeting idea, but received support from several WWE writers.
“Yeah, I had an idea about bringing home a ministry of business. It was one of my last ideas I had. And I had a series of writers for that. They thought it was a very good idea.”
The original Ministry of Business was a chaotic alliance formed in 1999 between the Ministry of Darkness of Undertaker and the company of Vince McMahon. Kross envisioned a new version that played today’s theme while still remaining true to its dark roots.
“There’s always these conspiracy theories about esoteric businesses and stuff like that, and about evil businesses and stuff like that. I thought there was a tasteful way to fictionalize that type of thing and put a nostalgic twist on it and bring it back to TV.”
According to Kross, the pitch even got an early creative discussion about the set pieces and members.
“And there were a lot of people who thought it was a perfect fit for it, and they were talking about creating potentially like the podium and a few other props.”
Still, this idea never reached the number one decision maker. Cross admitted that there was real momentum behind the idea, but he had not made any progress to the point of blessings from the two key names of its legacy.
“The only people I hadn’t gotten blessings to do that were because we weren’t down the road – because like Taker and Vince, I have to talk about it.
Looking back, Cross still believes that the idea can provide WWE TV with something memorable and fresh.
“Yeah, I thought it would be cool to revisit such a concept.”
The reboot of Corporate Ministry never saw the light of day, but Cross’s idea shows how deeply he thought it was when it came to reinvent his character and linking WWE’s past to the present.
