Several WWE athletes, including Braun Strowman and Becky Lynch, began their journeys as “Rosebuds.” While some of these performers have achieved fame, Adam Rose, whose real name is Ray Leppan, has faded from the limelight since his retirement in 2019 and appears quite different now.
Leppan originally debuted as “Leo Kruger,” a South African character in Florida’s Championship Wrestling Development Program. When FCW transitioned to NXT, he rebranded as “Adam Rose,” quickly becoming a fan favorite known for his party-boy persona and entertaining antics, including an appearance by the Easter Bunny. The storyline turned serious, ending before the Bunny’s true identity was revealed.
Although Rose made a mark in secondary shows like “Main Event,” he struggled with WWE’s wellness policy, arguing that violations stemmed from legal ADHD medications. His assertions fell on deaf ears, leading to a 2016 suspension that marked a turning point in his WWE career as he sank lower down the roster.

After his suspension in 2016, Rose was arrested on domestic violence charges during a quarrel with his wife, resulting in his indefinite release from WWE. Following the dismissal of the charges, he attempted to profit from his notoriety by selling merchandise.
In 2019, Rose appeared significantly leaner than during his WWE days, sporting a different look with a shaved head and goatee. A Facebook post from earlier that year revealed his transformation stemmed from overcoming drug addiction, credited in part to WWE’s support.
“I refuse to squander my second chance,” Rose stated. “I am grateful to @WWE for their assistance, even when I seemed unworthy.” His current appearance reflects a man who has moved on from past struggles, now embodying a sense of peace rather than desperation.
Fan Take: Adam Rose’s journey highlights the intense personal battles many wrestlers face behind the scenes. His transformation reminds fans that the stories of wrestlers extend beyond the ring, showcasing their resilience and the importance of support in overcoming life’s challenges.
