WWE’s Money in the Bank (MITB) briefcase is known for being a major career-changing prize, but despite its popularity among fans, it hasn’t always been favored behind the scenes. Just before the recent Money in the Bank event in Los Angeles, Fightful Select shared insights about WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, and his views on the match concept.
Earlier reports suggested that Levesque wasn’t particularly fond of the Money in the Bank concept. Although Saturday’s event highlighted the match’s appeal, sources reveal that Levesque has historically shown little enthusiasm for it. He never won a Money in the Bank qualifying match and was reportedly not involved when the concept was initially introduced in the early 2000s. Interestingly, he has never cashed in a Money in the Bank contract throughout his long WWE career and has not been booked in a Money in the Bank premium live event since its debut in 2010.
Despite Levesque’s lukewarm feelings, the Money in the Bank ladder match remains highly profitable and crucial to WWE’s event lineup. Currently, there are no plans to discontinue Money in the Bank matches or the associated annual premium live events. Levesque’s indifference seems less impactful than once thought, with iconic matches like the 2024 Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match and the WrestleMania 24 Money in the Bank encounter continuing to enshrine the concept in WWE history.
Fan Take: This insight into Triple H’s stance adds a new layer to the backstage dynamics of WWE’s creative decisions. For fans, it’s reassuring to see the Money in the Bank match thriving despite mixed opinions from key figures, signaling that WWE will keep delivering exciting and memorable moments from this unique and suspenseful match type.
