NXT Tag Team Championships Set for Defense Beyond WWE’s Ring Next Week

2 Min Read

WWE’s NXT Tag Team Championship is once again leaving the company, this time heading to Booker T’s wrestling promotion in Texas. On June 14th, Hank Walker and Tank Ledger will defend their NXT Tag Team titles against Big Luther and Terrale Tempo at the “Power Shift” event, which will be held at the Walker Texas Lawyer Arena in Texas City. This matchup was officially announced by Reality of Wrestling on Twitter on June 6th.

This isn’t the first instance of WWE allowing its titles to be contested outside its own events. Earlier this year, Nathan Fraser and Akiom defended the NXT Tag Team titles at TNA Impact, successfully defending against Rascalz and Nick and Ryan Nemez on multiple occasions.

Hank Walker and Tank Ledger are familiar faces in Reality of Wrestling. The powerhouse team previously won the Row Tag Team titles in December 2024 and held them for 84 days before returning full-time to NXT. Now, they’re back with even greater stakes.

Reality of Wrestling, owned by WWE Hall of Famer and current NXT commentator Booker T, has emerged as a collaborative platform for NXT talent. Wrestlers like Trick Williams, Wren Sinclair, and Jayne have also appeared there, highlighting WWE’s evolving and cooperative approach to the wrestling industry in 2025.

The NXT Tag Team Championship match at “Power Shift” is set to be the event’s biggest attraction. WWE’s willingness to let its titles be defended outside the Performance Center shows a new openness in how championships are managed.

Fan Take: This move signals WWE’s willingness to break traditional boundaries, enhancing the visibility of NXT talent and creating fresh storytelling opportunities. For WWE fans, it promises exciting cross-promotional action and could help strengthen the overall wrestling ecosystem.
