WWE is joining forces with Hulu for a grand Texas-themed crossover event featuring King of the Hill on Friday Night SmackDown this August 15th in Boston. This collaboration is part of a broad Disney campaign aimed at reviving the beloved animated series on Hulu.

As reported by Variety, the SmackDown arena will showcase custom wrestling mats and extensive King of the Hill digital-themed decor throughout the venue. WWE Superstars are actively involved, with Sheamus and Johnny Gargano recreating classic King of the Hill moments through a series of videos shared on WWE’s official social media channels. Fans can expect the cheerful vibe inspired by Hank Hill, with a few humorous twists.

This WWE x King of the Hill partnership is just one aspect of a larger marketing effort to reintroduce the show to both longtime fans and new viewers. Shannon Ryan, Disney Entertainment TV’s president of marketing, emphasized the campaign’s goal to honor the show’s legacy while making it feel fresh for a new generation.

28 years have passed since King of the Hill premiered, and our team has celebrated the show’s legacy and built a custom campaign targeted at viewers of the original series, making it feel fresh and modern for an entirely new generation of fans,” Ryan shared.

She also highlighted that the marketing plans extend beyond wrestling to include notable collaborations with NASCAR, Whataburger, and Fortnite.

“Our aim was to create iconic cultural moments like Hank Hill himself. Every touchpoint was thoughtfully crafted to reflect the soul of this beloved series. I wanted it to be as big as Texas, focusing on clever execution and bold partnerships that connect with fans across generations,” Ryan explained.
