AEW has reportedly signed Lacey Lane, who was previously known as Kayden Carter in WWE, following impressive performances in her recent AEW appearances. According to Fightful Select, Lane secured the AEW contract after her match against Mercedes Mone on AEW Dynamite Title Tuesday, where Mone successfully defended the AEW TBS Championship. Lane spent seven years with WWE before being released earlier this year.

Shortly after her WWE release, Lane appeared in AEW’s sister promotion, ROH, where she faced the then-ROH Women’s Interim World Television Champion Mina Shirakawa but was defeated by the Japanese competitor. During her WWE tenure, Carter was recognized as a tag team specialist alongside partner Katana Chance, with whom she won both the NXT Women’s Tag Team Title and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

AEW seems focused on bolstering its women’s division and has been linked to signing several female talents. The promotion, led by Tony Khan, is reportedly interested in former WWE NXT star Zyda Steele, who recently opted not to renew her WWE contract. Additionally, AEW is eyeing permanent deals for Maya World and Hyan, who have recently competed in ROH and AEW Collision matches.

Fan Take: This signing is a strong statement from AEW, showing their commitment to expanding and strengthening the women’s roster with proven talent like Lacey Lane. For fans, it signals exciting new matchups and storylines ahead, potentially elevating the competitive scene in women’s wrestling within AEW.
