AEW Dynamite Results (January 7, 2026): Live Match Updates and Highlights

The show opens with a welcome comment and we are introduced to Jim Ross as he returns to the booth receiving a loud applause from the Tulsa crowd on his way to his desk.

Excitement builds about the rest of tonight’s lineup as Jim Ross makes his way to his desk. Bandido will defend the ROH World Title this week and challenge for the AEW World Title at Maximum Carnage next week. We then head backstage to learn that Jetspeed was attacked earlier today, only to find out that the trios match scheduled for tonight is uncertain.

Later, when Don Callis talks about someone becoming richer thanks to the bounty placed on them, Demand is shown to be shocked by this development. He then heavily promotes Mark Davis and the new member of the Don Callis family, Jake Something, before departing. The commentary then states that Jake Perry must find two new partners for the trios match.

Jon Moxley then makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the night, followed by Shelton Benjamin.

AEW Continental Championship Eliminator Match: AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley of the Death Riders vs. “The Standard of Excellence” Shelton Benjamin of The Hart Syndicate

The match begins with Moxley attempting a handshake, but Moxley slaps him. Both men then continue to attack until Benjamin takes control and forces Moxley into the corner, but Moxley fights back with a set of chops to save the day. Benjamin then counters Moxley with a chop of his own, sending Moxley across the ring for more damage. Moxley then hit Benjamin in the face with a boot, sending him over the top rope and out of bounds, followed closely behind, sending him into the barricade. Moxley returns the favor to Benjamin, but Benjamin manages to send Moxley over the barricade and into the crowd.

The match returned to ringside and both men returned to the ring long enough to beat the referee’s count. Moxley then puts Benjamin in a hammerlock before sending him into the ring steps. Moxley then returns to the ring as the referee reaches a new count of 8, followed by Benjamin. Benjamin starts fighting back against the ropes, but Moxley knocks him to the mat. Benjamin then hit Moxley with an avalanche suplex, sending Moxley crashing to the canvas. Both men get to their feet and start pounding away, with Benjamin starting to take control until Moxley ducks a corkscrew kick.

This allows Moxley to regain control of the match, setting up a Gotch-style piledriver until Benjamin escapes. He then hit three consecutive German suplexes on Moxley, but Moxley was already on his feet, but was quickly taken down. Moxley then turns and takes Benjamin down and uses the ropes to get back up. Both men then traded strikes, with Moxley winning the exchange and nearly getting a fall, but a five-minute warning was announced. Moxley then sends Benjamin into the corner and hits a mounted punch to ratchet things up even more until Benjamin hits a counter powerbomb for two.

He then quickly transitions into a modified STF and chokes Moxley until Moxley gets the ropes and takes a break. He then sends Benjamin into the ropes, sets up a low bridge and dives to the outside, sending Benjamin into the barricade. He then brings Benjamin back into the ring, but gets knocked down with a slam, giving Benjamin a near fall. The match goes to the corner and Moxley tries to take Benjamin down, but Benjamin catches him with a kick to the back of the leg and takes Moxley down for another two count. Moxley then hits a few more kicks before countering with a Paradigm Shift DDT. He then covers, but Benjamin kicks out.

Moxley then applies a chokehold and Benjamin struggles to break free with less than a minute left. Benjamin then reached the ropes for a break and hit a knee strike followed by a triangle choke, but Moxley hoisted Benjamin onto his shoulders and hit the three for the win with seconds left before time expired.

After the match, Moxley shook hands with Benjamin, a show of sportsmanship after a remarkable match from both men. Commentary then hypes up the match between Bandido and Sammy Guevara later tonight, and also promotes MJF’s appearance ahead of next week’s match at Maximum Carnage.

We then headed to the back and saw Darby Allin looking for PAC, focusing on his face.

And we’ve got a video package featuring Hiroshi Tanahashi’s retirement match at Wrestle Kingdom 20, where the New Japan ace faced off against one of his biggest rivals, Kazuchika Okada.

Next, we take another look at Kenny Omega calling out MJF as he looks to make another shot at the world title. He will return to action next week in Maximum Carnage.

We then head to ringside where The Demand descends into the ring for the next match of the night. We are then reminded that they defeated Luchasaurus at New Year’s Smash last week, and we wonder who will team up with Perry tonight. Jack Perry then descends into the ring for the next match of the night. As the Young Bucks make their way down to the ring to loud cheers from the crowd, we quickly find out who their partner will be tonight. They then meet up outside the ring before sliding in and starting the match with The Demand.

Trio match: Jurassic Express “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) vs. The Demand (AEW National Champion Ricochet, Toa Liona, Bishop Kaun)

The match begins with the action quickly spreading to the outside, with The Young Bucks and Perry taking turns diving at their opponents. Perry then returns to the ring with Ricochet and both continue to attack until The Young Bucks hits a triple dropkick on Ricochet with an assist. Perry then makes a double team tag on Nick and the tag rotates between him, Matt and Perry to keep Ricochet at bay. This culminates in a DDT from Perry, but the ensuing pin attempt is broken by Bishop Coun. GOA was then caught on the outside by a Young Bucks dive, and Perry continued to control Ricochet for a near fall.

GOA then returns to the corner and distracts Perry long enough for Ricochet to send Perry to the floor with a dropkick. Demand then sends Perry into the timekeeper area and holds him down. Perry then limps back into the ring and The Demand takes control of the match. Ricochet then hits a stalled senton and yanks Perry’s hair with a boot. The Young Bucks are then taken down on the apron. Demand then triples Team Perry before Riona gets a two count.

Perry then reverses with a thunderous lariat. Nick Jackson was then tagged in and he flared up until Riona took him down. The Young Bucks then hit two superkicks and followed up with a synchronized elbow drop on GOA. Matt Jackson then stomps to the ropes for a powerbomb combo, gets a two count on Ricochet, and Perry takes GOA down with a moonsault. Riona then turns the tide and Ricochet hits a springboard 450 splash on Perry for a two count.

Perry then counters Vertigo and hits a suplex on Ricochet. All the boys are currently hitting some big moves in front of GOA double team Perry. Ricochet then hits a Vertigo, but The Young Bucks breaks the count. Ricochet then misses the Spirit Gun, but hits a knee strike. The Young Bucks then come in and hit Toa Liona with a series of superkicks. The Young Bucks then hit a BTE trigger on Ricochet, followed by Jack Perry with a running knee strike for the win.

The winners of the trios match are “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry and The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) from Jurassic Express!

After the match, the celebration was cut short as Mark Davis and Jake Something made their way to the ring and a beatdown by the Don Callis Family began, only to be briefly interrupted by a headdown from Jetspeed. The lights then go out, and when they come back on, we see someone wearing a mask take out a jet speed. It was Andrade El Idro back. He is then seen standing tall with the rest of the Don Callis family as The Demand looks on on the ramp, followed by FTR taking the stage and getting a good look at his former allies and potential tag title contenders.

Willow Nightingale then makes her way down to the ring with Harley Cameron and Chris Statlaender. Nightingale then grabs the microphone and gloats about winning the TBS title. Nightingale then praised Harley Cameron and brought up the TBS title and a reunion with Chris Statlender. Nightingale says that she is ready to accept all challengers, but tonight they will celebrate. Nightingale then invites Mercedes Monet to a celebration. Nightingale said that she had to push herself to defeat Monet, but Monet was not very happy. A scuffle then breaks out and Monet’s face is smeared with cake. Nightingale then powerbombs Monet onto the cake. Monet lies in the ring as the other women dance a conga line around her.

Next, we look back at Hexero’s defeat of Commander to earn a chance at a future TNT title, and then we look back at Mark Brisco encouraging new TBS Champion Willow Nightingale at home and Mark Brisco talking about her recovery after a recent match. And just as the words of the day are “Govern and Defend,” he promises to keep the title away from the Don Callis family. Saturday night’s Collision will see him defend the title against Hexero.

We then head to the back where Triangle of Madness calls out the current champions who are going to make things awkward in 2026. Next week we’ll see them take on the Babes of Wrath and Chris Statlaender in trios action.

Next, ahead of the match for the AEW World Title, we take a look back at Sammy Guevara, who will challenge Bandido to tonight’s match on behalf of the ROH World Champion. Sammy Guevara then makes his way down to the ring for his next match of the night, followed by Bandido.

Non-title match: Brodid’s ROH World Champion Bandido vs. La Faction Ingobernable’s ROH World Tag Team Champion “Spanish God” Sammy Guevara

The match begins with Bandido trying to abide by the Code of Ethics, but Guevara sends Bandido flying out of bounds and making him dive. Bandido then brought Guevara back into the ring, but Guevara avoided a 21-plex, took a breather outside, and spat something in Bandido’s face to distract him. He then sends Bandido onto the ring steps and makes him pose at the announce desk. Guevara stays in control while landing several shots on Bandido in the ring. Bandido then fights back with an attack of his own, but Guevara counters and sends Bandido into the corner. Bandido then responds in kind before taking Guevara down with a dropkick and takes Guevara to the canvas with a tourneo.

Bandido then picks Guevara up for a press slam, then pumps Guevara out of the ring, speeds up and hits Guevara with a dive to the floor. Back in the ring, Guevara Monkey flips Bandido into the ropes and Bandido falls to the floor. Guevara then hits a Shooting Star Press from outside. Guevara then goes for the GTH, but Bandido counters and gets a rollup for a two count. Guevara then counters a 21-plex attempt and hits a cutter for a nearfall.

Bandido then puts Guevara on the mat and follows up with a pump kick. He then goes for a 21plex, but Guevara stands up. Guevara then hit his knee and nearly fell shortly after. Bandido then counters Sammy Guevara’s kick and hits a knee strike. Bandido then hit a 21-plex on Guevara for the win.

The winner of the non-title match is ROH World Champion Bandido!

After the match, MJF went down to ringside and the celebration was interrupted by the arrival of the AEW World Champion. MJF has a microphone as he makes his way to the ring, and it looks like John Crews will act as translator tonight as MJF congratulates Bandido on his victory. MJF then hypes himself up like he’s someone who knows something about luchadores and even calls himself a lucha libre legend. And he said he asked Jonathan Crews to translate because he respects and respects Bandido.

Cruise is translating all this and promoting MJF. MJF then says his thanks before taking a shot at Oklahoma. MJF then brings up that he has six dynamite diamond rings, but he doesn’t have one. MJF then asked Bandido to give him a dynamite diamond ring. MJF then announced that he would be canceling next week’s world title match. He then talked to Tony Khan and promised to beat Bandido and put him in a PPV match, probably in 5-10 years. He then asks Cruz to translate, but Bandido interrupts him by telling MJF that he speaks English, then taunts MJF before being interrupted by a low blow from MJF. He then had Cruz hold Bandido after stealing the ring and looked for another cheap shot, but Bandido slipped out and Cruz was laid out. Bandido then hit a 21-plex on Cruz, then one on MJF, who retreated to grab the title, then went down the ramp while Bandido celebrated.

Next, we get the Brody King video package.

Toni Storm then makes her way down to the ring for the next match of the night, followed by Marina Shafir.

Single match: “Timeless” Toni Storm of Timeless Love Bombs vs. Marina Shafir of Death Riders

The match begins with both women locked up, with Storm sent to the ropes only to go after Shafir. Shafir then countered with a side headlock and transitioned into a series of submission holds that grounded Storm to the mat. Storm then got back up and fought back, knocking Shafir out with a boot and sending him out of the ring. Storm then follows close behind and slams Shafir into the ring steps as Yuta Wheeler confronts Storm. This allows Shafir to land a headscissors on Storm, but Storm counters with a pinning combination for two.

Shafir then regains control but slips with a headscissors on the ropes and continues to work on Storm, landing a kick instead. She then dances while mocking Storm and slamming him. Storm counters with an Irish whip and drives Shafir into the corner, but Shafir goes for a hip attack and gets kicked. Shafir was then caught by Storm’s big package, but when Yuta dragged the referee out of the ring, the referee felt nothing and called for the bell.

“Timeless” Toni Storm of Timeless Love Bombs won the singles match by disqualification!

After the match, Yuta and Garcia get into an argument with the referee while Shafir returns to attack. Mina Shirakawa then ran up to make the save, but Orange Cassidy and Roderick Strong also ran over and intervened after Shafir put his body on the line. The situation then finally subsides as the Death Riders flee through the crowd as Claudio Castagnoli descends and Cassidy helps Shirakawa to his feet.

Then we head to the back and Rene Paquette is talking to PAC. He brings up the fact that he has already defeated Darby Allin twice and is not ready for another match. Arin appears and says he wants it after the war with the Death Riders. PAC then refuses him and leaves before Allin ambushes PAC with a fire extinguisher. Allin then threatens to break his ankle if he doesn’t agree to the match. PAC then finally agrees to the match and Arin escapes before the Death Riders can get to him.

The lights then go out, indicating that AEW is not responsible for whatever happens in the main event. Opps then makes his way down to the ring for the main event of the night, followed by “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland.

Lights out match: “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland vs. Ops (“Ruthless Handsome Devil” Hook and AEW World Trios Champion Powerhouse Hobbs)

The match begins with the lights flashing. Hangman Page then fights Powerhouse Hobbs and Swerve Strickland fights Hook. Strickland and Hobbs then gain the upper hand. Hobbs then saves HOOK and hits Strickland with a lariat on the apron. Hobbs then missed a chair shot on Strickland. Strickland then kicks Hobbs and Page wraps a chair around Hobbs’ neck and slams him into a steel pole. Strickland and Page are in control at this stage of the match and the lights come back on. Hobbs then blindsided Page, who was chasing Hook. Strickland then defeats Hobbs.

Strickland then faced HOOK on the apron. Hook then hits an over-the-top suplex on Strickland. Hobbs then sends Page’s spine into the apron over and over again. Page then counterattacked with a series of kicks. The table has now appeared. Hook and Hobbs corner Page. Hobbs then defeats Page before Hook stands at his throat. After a tough fight, Hook shoves Page into the table and gets a two count. Page then sends Hobbs into a steel chair and then hits Hook with a staple gun.

Page then hits a pop-up powerbomb on Hook. Hobbs comes in and hits a lariat on Page. He then goes for a vertical suplex, but Strickland nails him with a staple gun in both areas. After a struggle, Hobbes is finally defeated. Page and Strickland then bring cinder blocks into the ring. Hook then escapes, but Hobbs nails him with a steel chair. Strickland then hits a German suplex on Hobbs, but Hobbs gets back up and hits a lariat. Hobbs then tries to hit Strickland with a steel chair shot from the top of the cinder block, but Prince Nana blocks him.

Hobbs then hits Nana with a splash. Hobbs and Strickland then fight before Hobbs hits a powerslam on top of a cinder block. He then goes for a cover, but Page breaks it and only gets a count of two. Page then fights Hobbs and goes for the Buckshot Lariat, but the hook trips him up. Members of the Opps Dojo then go down to the ring and assault Page. Hobbs then wraps steel chains around Page and Strickland’s necks. Prince Nana then pours hot coffee on Hobbs’ face. Page and Strickland then go outside and destroy the members of the Ops Dojo.

HOOK then suplexes Nana to the floor. Hobbs then accidentally knocks HOOK down. Page then goes for a buckshot lariat on Hobbs, but Hobbs hits a spinebuster instead. Afterwards, Strickland makes a house call to Hobbs. Strickland then takes down multiple guys on the outside with a Swerve Stomp. In the ring, Page and Strickland hit a Swerve Stomp/Dead Eye combination on Hobbs on Cinderblock. Hook comes in and rolls up Page for a two count. HOOK then goes for RedRum, but Page escapes. Strickland then stops HOOK with a powerful headbutt.

Page then wraps a steel chain around his fist and hits a rolling strike. Strickland then hits a house call with HOOK. Page then hits a Buckshot Lariat on Hook and chokes him with a steel chain, which causes Hook to tap out immediately.
