AEW Dynamite New Year Smash Results (2025/12/31): Live Match Updates and Highlights
The show begins with commentary that welcomes us and gives us an overview of tonight’s New Year’s Smash episode.
Next, we get a video package summarizing last weekend’s World’s End pay-per-view event.
I then headed to the parking lot and saw MJF arrive with the AEW World Championship strapped to his waist from earlier today. Then MJF’s music blared and he made his way down to the ring to a mix of boos and cheers. MJF then introduced himself as the world champion and quoted Kendrick Lamar saying, “Fuck the big three, it’s just me being big.” MJF then threw the AEW World Championship out of the ring, revealing the return of the “Triple B” title belt.
And MJF says a lot of people are angry at the champion right now, but he doesn’t care. And MJF says if they think they’re on the Devil’s level, they have two choices: step up or get stomped. MJF then said that from now on, instead of running around, he would sprint until everyone recognized him as the greatest of all time. Then MJF said that because he’s MJF, he’s better than you and you know it. Before MJF can go any further, he is interrupted by Kenny Omega on the big screen. Omega said his career was closer to the end than the beginning, and it got him thinking. Omega then says what would happen if he could win the title again. Omega then talks about what would have happened if MJF had defeated him years ago to become the longest-serving AEW World Champion in history. Omega says what would happen if MJF and him got in that ring again.
Omega then says he won’t be facing The Cleaner, Best Bout Machine, or even the Title Collector. Omega then says that all he has to do is collect one title. Omega then said it didn’t matter if he was able to compete in next week’s fight or not, or the scrapes and scratches he had to go through to get there, he wanted to get a crack at the belt. Omega then said to the champion and everyone in the photo, “Goodnight, Mua, and we must say goodbye.”
MJF then slams Kenny Omega for not being “man enough” to say that to his face. “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland’s music then blared and they made their way from the crowd to the ring before security intervened. MJF then mocks them by saying that winning is important in AEW and as far as he is concerned, they are a couple of losers who need to get a chance and he would be happy to beat them both on their butts if he could. MJF then escapes from the ring and heads to the ramp as Page and Strickland complain about the security detail in the ring.
This then culminates in a buckshot lariat followed by a house call and both men get the mic. Page then promised to strangle MJF with that “ugly ass belt” before taking it away from him, and Strickland said he hoped MJF would catch Page before that happened. Samoa Joe then cuts in from the screen and says that only the rightful champion should be the number one contender. Joe then states that although he thinks he has a disability, he has an answer for it as he beats Page with both hands on the hook, allowing the Nisei wrestler to defeat Page and free Hobbs to defeat Strickland. Page then calls on Joe to send his sons, especially Hook, and Strickland says he can do it in a No Rules, No Holds Birds, Lights Out Match. Strickland’s music then blares and commentary sets the tone for the rest of tonight’s lineup as both fighters and Prince Nana stand tall in the ring.
We then head to the back where Renée Paquette belongs to The Conglomeration. Mark Briscoe talks about the group heading into 2026 strong, citing Ted Turner’s name in the process. They then talk about the outcome of the Mixed Nuts Mayhem match at World’s End, where Storm, Cassidy, and Strong team up tonight. Briscoe says today’s word is choking because Death Rider will be choking these nuts tonight. Toni Storm then appears with Mina Shirakawa and Luther, and Storm promises his “wife” that he still loves her and invites Cassidy to dance tonight. As everyone else leaves, Roderick Strong claims he doesn’t want to be involved in this before leaving too.
Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and “Timeless” Toni Storm come down to the ring for the first match of the night, followed by the Death Riders.
New Year’s Eve Tornado Trios Match: “Timeless” Toni Storm, The Conglomerate’s “Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy, Paragon’s Roderick Strong vs. Death Riders (Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, Daniel Garcia)
The match begins with the ring cleared except for Storm and Shafir. Storm then takes Shafir down with a flurry of punches on the mat and in the corner. Storm’s celebration was interrupted by Castagnoli entering the ring and forcing her out of the ring, but Strong sent Castagnoli into the corner with a raging attack. This was then interrupted when Garcia came in to take down Strong in the corner, but Cassidy rolled up for a good shot before landing a punch to Garcia’s head. He then retreated and Shafir slid into the ring and went for a full nelson before taking Cassidy to the mat and getting a two count. The Death Riders then drive Cassidy into the corner and hit him repeatedly, sending Cassidy to the canvas.
Strong gets hit by Death Rider in the corner and starts fighting back out of the corner. He then lifts Shafir up and goes for a backbreaker, but is cut off by the Death Rider before Storm and Cassidy return to the ring to settle things. After that, both men kept Shafir and Garcia at bay. Castagnoli then appears in the ring, but receives a double hip toss from Storm and Cassidy. After that, Storm goes for a giant swing on Castagnoli, but Cassidy chooses a PK on Castagnoli, but he struggles. Storm then tries again, but gets cut off by Garcia’s boot to loud boos. He is then taken down with an Orange Punch, but Cassidy is captured in Mother’s Milk by Shafir, and Strong breaks the hold by grabbing her hair and hits her with a backbreaker.
Castagnoli then comes in and sends Strong out, but Storm hits a few shots before Cassidy hits a spinning DDT. He went for another orange punch, but Yuta Wheeler blocked it, and Castagnoli landed a pop-up uppercut for the win.

After the match, the Death Riders flee through the crowd while Storm checks on Cassidy.

Bandido then returns to the ring and points a finger gun at him, dodging Moltos’s forces, but Moltos bites him before sending him into the corner. Moltos then charges again, but is forced outside by Bandido, who dons his cloak and then flies off, diving into Moltos and sending himself into the floor as well.

Then King says he’s looking for an opportunity. Both men then pose and walk away.
