The former Impact President looks back on his long history with former WWE and current AEW Star Cope

Adam “Cope” Copeland has a career in professional wrestling for 30 years. He spent most of his time with WWE, but the Canadian road crossed many names, including former TNA President Scott D’Amore. Today, D’Amore runs a promotion for the newly revitalized Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, but began writing his own column, “The D’Amore Drop,” for crowned.

” Speaking of AEW, I saw my old friend, Adam ‘Edge’ Copeland. He says he left AEW probably two years of wrestling, and then he calls it a day at age 53,” writes D’Amore. He then praised Sting’s example, citing the example of Sting for his ability to book an objective into a legendary career, and for further praise for being a viable alternative to avid promoters. “I knew Adam for a long time, long before the world met him as the edge in WWE in 1998. Thirty-five years ago, we were young, hungry, broken, trying to find a way to make it in this crazy business we loved.”

D’Amore claimed he took Copeland to Orangeville, Ontario in 1997 and wrestled in Grand Prix Wrestling. There, the two spent seven nights a week and wrestled in every small town in the area with future world champion Christian cages.

“It’s attractive, it wasn’t,” he added. “We went home from midnight, talked about the game and got better.”

However, according to D’Amore, Copeland already had a certain X-factor and had an unwavering motivation.

“People looked at him twice and said, ‘Hey, is that a rock star? He looks like someone!” Adam didn’t want to make it.
